It begins with a seed. At Fat Tomato, we grow more than 500 varieties of fruit, vegetables, herbs and edible flowers in our tiny hillside garden. Four seasonal packets of open-pollinated, chemical-free seeds, saved from the garden, invite you to grow something of your own, with wooden plant labels and a wax wood peel-off pencil for sowing and keeping track of what emerges.
Then, we move from garden to kitchen.
The pantry pieces change with the harvest, making each box a little different. A small-batch cordial might bring the floral brightness of Wild Strawberry Rose, the exotic fragrance of Fig Leaf Lime or the sharp sweetness of Damson Honey, while a fruit jelly captures another fleeting garden flavour.
Our matured chutneys, from Pear Fig to Green Tomato, are made in small batches and given time to develop their rich, layered flavours — delicious alongside cheese, cold meats or stirred into everyday cooking. Naturally dried bay leaves from the garden bring fragrance and depth to soups, sauces and slow-cooked dishes.
An illustrated organic cotton tea towel brings a little of the garden into the kitchen, while eight illustrated gift cards celebrate the wider Irish food story — made for writing, sending and sharing.
