  • Calendula Strawberry Blonde is very easy to grow and suitable for beginners. Sow seeds in modular trays or directly into their final position in the garden using peat-free compost. Cover seeds lightly and keep soil moist during germination.

If growing in trays, plant out seedlings when they are around 5-10 cm tall. Calendula grows well in pots, borders, raised beds, and the vegetable garden, and will flower over a long season if deadheaded regularly.

    Sow indoors: March to September

    Plant out: April to September

    Harvest: May to November

  • Calendula is a versatile edible flower valued for both its beauty and usefulness. The mildly peppery petals can be used fresh or dried to colour rice and potatoes like saffron, brighten salads, and garnish desserts and cakes.

The petals can also be infused as a gentle herbal tea, often enjoyed with honey and lemon, traditionally used to support relaxation and digestion. Calendula is also appreciated in the kitchen garden for its natural pest-repelling qualities.
