Named Producer to Watch for 2026 by Irish Farmers Journal

Published in print and online on Tuesday, 30 December, in the Irish Farmers Journal.

We’re really proud to share that Fat Tomato has been included in the Irish Farmers Journal list of “Taste the Future: Producers to Watch Out For in 2026.”

What makes this recognition especially meaningful is the company we’re in. The list celebrates a group of producers and craftmakers who are shaping the future of Irish food through creativity, collaboration, and a deep respect for ingredients, place and people.

To be mentioned alongside people we admire so much - including Paula McIntyre MBE, whose work continues to champion Irish flavour and food culture, and Leitrim Hill Creamery, known for their delicious goat’s cheese, fudge and ice cream - is genuinely humbling.

At Fat Tomato, everything starts in our small hillside garden in North Wexford. Seeds saved by hand, fruit grown slowly, and flavours developed with care, curiosity and a deep respect for biodiversity. Being recognised as part of this wider movement of independent Irish producers reinforces what we believe deeply: that the future of food lies in small-scale, seasonal, rooted in place and community.

A huge congratulations to everyone featured on the list. We’re excited to see what 2026 brings, and grateful to be part of such a vibrant, thoughtful Irish food landscape.

Thank you to the Irish Farmers Journal for shining a light on the people and ideas shaping the future of Irish food.
