Anthony Heads to County Down for a Slow Food Celebration

We’re thrilled to share that Anthony is one of the special guests at the Slow Food Weekend on July 5-6 at No.14 The Georgian House in Comber, alongside renowned chef Paula McIntyre and legendary fish smoker Sally Barnes of Woodcock Smokery.

This special event is part of the Taste Summer Ards and North Down festival - a celebration of local food, heritage, and seasonal flavours taking place across the region this summer.

Hosted in a lovingly restored Georgian house, the weekend brings together some of the island’s most passionate Slow Food advocates for a rich and thoughtful programme exploring biodiversity, circular food systems, food heritage, sustainable fishing, native bees, real bread, traditional breeds, and more.

Anthony will feature in two sessions:

  • Saturday, 6 July at 11 am: What is Slow Food and Why Does It Matter?
Opening panel with Paula McIntyre, Sally Barnes, Jim Mulholland, and Anthony O'Toole - a conversation about the importance of Slow Food today.

  • Sunday 7 July at 12 pm: Food Heritage: Growing for Flavour, Culture and Biodiversity
Anthony joins Anna Hudson (Ballywalter Park Estate) and Nathan Snoddon (Food Story Media) to share stories from his Fat Tomato horticultural project and discuss the future of heritage fruits and vegetables.

Expect tastings, demos, engaging discussions, and a powerful celebration of local food and the people who grow, make, and advocate for it.
