  • To ensure the best germination, the temperature must be at least 20°C. Sow seeds point-side down, 1.5 cm deep, in small pots with peat-free compost. Plant outdoors 90 cm apart from late May, once frosts have passed.

Sow indoors: April to early June

Plant out: Late May to July

    Harvesting time: September to October

  • The sweet, nutty flavour of the deep orange flesh shines in pumpkin pies and baked dishes. However, due to its high water content, we recommend puréeing and straining the flesh before baking.

It also works beautifully as roasted pumpkin wedges, in risotto, and makes an excellent soup. Traditionally, the shell was used in Europe as a soup tureen.
