Solanum Lycopersicum

Wild Argentinian Tomato is a huge favourite here. Like sweets in the polytunnel, it produces masses of tiny, red currant-sized fruits with a tart-sweet, intensely tomatoey flavour. One of the sweetest tomato varieties you’ll find, and dangerously easy to snack on straight from the plant.

An indeterminate vining variety with a wild, bushy growth habit, it’s thought to descend from ancient tomato populations native to South America. Exceptionally vigorous and productive, it thrives in the warmth of a polytunnel and rewards growers with heavy, continuous harvests. Perfect for snacking, salads, or slow-roasting to deepen its flavour.

Average number of seeds: 14

Open-pollinated, chemical-free seeds. Grown and saved in Wexford, Ireland. We only grow and save seeds from plants that were started from certified organic seeds.

Each seed packet includes growing tips and cooking suggestions inside.

  • It takes about 5-6 months from planting a seed to harvesting your first ripe tomato. To grow tomatoes successfully, follow a few key steps. For a detailed, step-by-step growing guide, visit our Grow & Cook section.

    Sow indoors: February to April

Plant out: Late May to June

    Harvesting time: July to October-November

  • During tomato season, we eat tomatoes morning, noon, and night, as they bring us so much joy after months of nurturing. We eat them like sweets, in pasta dishes, or as part of a simple tomato salad with flaky sea salt.

We also preserve tomatoes in various ways for the year ahead, making sauces, jams, and chutneys. Fresh tomatoes can be frozen whole for later use in pasta sauces, stews, soups, and casseroles.
