At Fat Tomato, we grow over 100 heritage tomato varieties each year, in every imaginable colour, size, and shape. Some are best eaten simply — with a pinch of flaky sea salt and good olive oil — while others, with their rich, fleshy texture, are perfect for preserving.
Tomato season is one of the most rewarding moments in the garden. After months of growing from seed, we harvest at peak ripeness and set aside the most flavourful varieties to carry us through the year.
This Golden Tomato Jam is made from a selection of yellow and orange heritage tomatoes, chosen for their natural sweetness and gentle acidity. They are cooked slowly with Tara Hill raw blossom honey, our own heritage apple cider vinegar, and organic lemons, then layered with fresh organic ginger and turmeric, wild Alexander seeds, a touch of chilli, and Morado garlic for savoury depth.
The result is a rich, aromatic jam that sits beautifully between sweet and savoury — golden in colour, bright in flavour, with gentle warmth and a balanced tang.
Serve with roast chicken, grilled halloumi, oily fish, or charred vegetables. Spread onto sourdough with soft goat’s cheese, pair with cured meats, or stir into dressings, marinades, and noodle dishes for a savoury lift.
